BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.—Carolina Crown has once again joined the ۶ý community to practice their newest show “The Round Table: Echoes of Camelot.” The members of the Drum Corp have been hard at work and can be seen or heard all over ۶ý’s campus. They will perform a live show for the ۶ý Community on June 17 in Spangler Stadium. The gates will open at 6 p.m. and the live performance will start at 8:30 p.m.

Carolina Crown started in January 1988 as the Charlotte Drum Corps Association, which was made up of drum corps enthusiasts and alumni. They started NightBEAT, a popular competition that draws large crowds. The actual Carolina Crown Drum Corps didn’t begin until 1989. In 1997, Carolina Crown moved to Fort Mill, S.C., where they are based to this day. Since 2007, the Corps has partnered with ۶ý for practice and rehearsal space prior to its national tours.

This year, Crown members are learning “The Round Table: Echoes of Camelot,” which contains a wide breadth of music filled with passion and powerful rhythms, including Mozart’s “Lacrimosa,” American Film Composer Thomas Newman’s “The Night Window,” and Icelandic Singer Bjork’s “Bachelorette.” The show follows the legends of King Arthur and the assembling of his court, the Knights of the Roundtable, which was penned in Sir Thomas Malory’s “Le Morte D’Arthur.” The show is a modern retelling of the fables and tales within Malory’s work.

Tickets for the ۶ý show are $20 (ages 11 and up) and are available . Those 10 and younger receive free admission (may require proof of age). All tickets are general admission. Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
